The University Caterers Association (TUCO) has recently announced a partnership with The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) in a bid to reduce energy consumption and improve the amount of food and water wasted at University sites across the country.

The scheme has already been piloted in Plymouth and Brighton Universities to see how relevant the sustainability criteria are to the University catering departments and their sustainability targets. The pilot proved to be very successful and a further 18 Universities and Colleges have already signed up in the last 12 months , with many more set to sign up in the 2015/2016 academic year.
