As you may be aware last year the team at Eco organised a competition to get people to enter their best carved pumpkin for the chance to win a money off voucher and some bits and pieces to help ‘grown your own’!

We were happy to report the lucky winners were pupils from Fleetville Junior school in St.Albans.

We loved what they were doing at Fleetville, encouraging their students to ‘grow their own’ with a homemade greenhouse and designated vegetable patch. As part of the prize we also gave Fleetville some pumpkin seeds so they can start growing their own this year ready for Halloween and the new carving competition.

We were so pleased by what the school were doing we decided to try to encourage our local primary/junior schools to take part in growing their own pumpkins.

This competition helps the pupils to learn the process of growing their own veg whilst giving them a chance to win the prize for their school kitchen and veg patch.

So far we have opened the competition up on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Not only that but Eco are sending out packs of seeds to a number of local schools.

If you are interested in taking part, please email us at [email protected] or call us on 01582 865050. We will post the seeds out to you, free of charge of course. All we ask is that you send us photo updates so we can see how the pumpkins are getting on. On Halloween the pupils can then carve their very own pumpkins and enter them to be in with a chance of winning.
