Commercial glass washer FAQs

How do you deep clean a commercial glass washer?

Disconnect the detergent line and run a few cycles while the glass washer is empty. Add 1 litre of descaling solution and heat the glasswasher. Run 4 or 5 more empty glasswasher cycles to fully cleanse the machine of scale deposits. Drain the glasswasher, refill it, and run 2 rinse cycles to clean the machine of the solution. Finally, wipe clean and reconnect the detergent line. Your glasswasher is now ready for more glassware.

Can I use dishwasher detergent in a commercial glass washer?

No. Dishwasher detergents have a high caustic content when compared to the products designed to be used in glass washers. Glass washers run at lower temperatures and lower water pressures too, so the specially designed chemicals are less concentrated and are intended not to damage the glasswear. Dishwasher detergent can also erode the rubber seals inside glass washers.

How often should you salt a glass washer?

In order to prevent the in built softener from clogging up, salting your glass washer should be done once a week or whenever the salt level is low (usually indicated by a light on the glass washer unit).

What chemicals do commercial glasswashers use?

Detergent and descaler are the most important chemicals used in a commercial glass washer. Some glass renovator will also keep your glass washer cleaning effectively. Salting glass washers is also vital, especially in areas with hard water. This salt is sodium chloride, but is not table salt (which will corrode the pipes in your glass washer).
