Fit out companies warned ‘Stick to Spec'

CESA has issued a warning to fit out companies working within the catering sector that they must stick to original machine specifications when completing projects rather than substituting cheaper equipment in order to make more profit or retain their margins.

CESA has confirmed that several of its members have complained that this has happened on projects they were working on resulting in equipment that was substandard for the client’s requirements, thus leading to a shorter lifespan, reduced capacity and less efficient equipment resulting in increased running and maintenance costs.

Often a lot of time, effort and cost has been put in by manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that the client has been quoted for the correct equipment to suit their business needs , when these specifications are ignored it means the client and manufacturers lose and the trust in the supply chain is undermined.
