We recently reported that Costa had opened their first ever Eco Pod coffee shop in April at Wrekin Park in Telford. Early reports from the Whitbread owned chain indicate that the energy used in the first month is 54% less than the energy used in Costas conventional units of the same size .
Oliver Rosevear, the energy and environment manager for Costa, has said that so far the unit has achieved its energy consumption targets and the chain is delighted with the performance of the Eco Pod concept since its launch. Costa are also pleased that the building has received an A+ EPC rating (Energy Performance Certificate) , the highest rating possible.
